What is The Dairy Fairy all about?
Our mission is to make ingenious intimates. What does that mean? We are passionate about lingerie, but more importantly, unique, innovative, smart undergarments that help a milk-making mama feel confident, comfortable and beautiful.
What makes the Arden All-in-One Bra so special?
The Arden is the original and only nursing bra that lets you:
- Comfortably wear it all day long – without having to change into some other hideous pumping contraption
- Enables you to handsfree pump or simultaneously pump and nurse
- Adjust the cup size to fit your fluctuating fullness level, full or empty, which can mean the difference of an entire cup size.
- Crisscross the detachable shoulder straps for extra support
- Look and feel your best in an attractive and supportive bra – the double layer fabric even protects you against leaks and provides a “seamless” look
- Use the cross over cover panels as a reminder of which breast is up next for pumping or nursing
When should I buy my Nursing and Handsfree bra?
Pregnant women nest: we try to get everything done and out of the way before the little one arrives. However, purchasing your bra is a situation where a little patience might pay off. Why? Our bodies change dramatically during pregnancy and post-partum. A woman who was 34C pre-pregnancy, may be a 36D, a 38C or even a 34DD when her milk comes in and her body adjusts. That said, The Dairy Fairy bras have a lot of adjustability to accommodate as you grow, and shrink.
The back hook and eye closure has a rare 4 inches of hook settings. The shoulder straps can be lengthened or shorted and on select styles, crossed in the back and closed at 2 different positions. Plus on the Arden style, you can adjust the fit of the cup with our patent pending cross over panels.
Typically, 2-3 months after birth your ribcage will go down to original size. And, when your milk production stabilizes, you’ll likely be 1-2 cups larger then pre-pregnancy size. A final reason to wait: when possible, it is recommended that pumping begin 1-2 weeks after birth, to allow your baby to get things going. Should you decide to get your bra in advance, take a close look at our Fitting Room to make sure you get as close as possible to the correct size. Unworn/unwashed bras with tags attached are returnable or exchangeable for 30 days (though we can be flexible on the time frame for our new mommies).
How do I pick the right size?
This is the most important part of making sure that your bra works for you. Contrary to popular belief, bra sizing is not standardized. So someone who is a 34C at Victoria’s Secret might be a 32D in another brand. As a general rule, we highly recommend that you measure yourself with a tape measure (instructions below) and convert from typical bra size to The Dairy Fairy bra size. A few things to keep in mind: Don’t go off of your old bras. They may be stretched out and give you an incorrect size. Check out our handy dandy sizing chart and measuring guide to help you Pick the Right Size, or use our bra size calculator. If you are right between sizes, we generally recommend going with the one that matches your band size, as the bra will not function if the band is not fitting properly.
What’s the difference between the Arden and the Arden Naked?
Basically the “frill” level is the answer. Choosing between the two is really a personal decision. One is more sexy, the other more practical – we love them both. The Arden comes with pretty contrast elastic lace and trim while the Arden Naked comes without lace and all trim is the same color as the bra.
What’s the difference between the Arden and the Rose?
Both are pumping and nursing bras and both are beautiful. But that’s where the similarities end. The Arden offers higher support and constructed using multiple layers that allow for nursing and adjusting to your constantly fluctuating breast size. The Rose is a softer, light support and affordable bra, perfect for use as a nighttime sleep and pumping bra.
What’s the difference between the Pippa, Ayla and the Noa?
Our newest "sisters" are similar in fit and support. All have a nursing clip and hidden flange openings. The Ayla and Noa also have demi-underwire. The Pippa offers lace overlay on lightly cushioned lycra so it provides a little more coverage and support. The Ayla is fashioned of lace on top of a supportive lining. The Noa is made of a super soft stretch satin that is a bit smoother looking under clothing for mamas that don't want the lacy texture.
